5. Financial Proceedings in Divorce

Some couples are able to agree matters between themselves, and are just seeking to have those agreements confirmed by an order of the court in divorce, or a Separation Agreement; some couples may need the help of a mediator to reach an agreement and may want legal advice whilst that process is ongoing.  Sometimes people find themselves in a position where their spouse/ partner, will just not discuss financial issues so they need more help to resolve things.
For this reason we offer, in suitable cases, a Fixed Fee Package which we have split into various stages, covering from putting in place an agreement that has been amicably reached between two people, to dealing with matters that are fully contested.   If you and your spouse/ partner have fully agreed the terms of a financial settlement, and you wish a consent order to be drawn up within divorce/ dissolution proceedings to reflect the terms of that financial settlement, our fixed fee for doing this is £500 plus VAT, and the court fee of £45, being a total of £645.
Our Financial Proceedings Packages, do not cover advising on issues with regard to divorce, domestic abuse or children issues.

If you are looking to make an application for an order under the Children Act, which can include orders to spend time with your child or have your child live with you, previously known as contact and residence orders, but are not in a financial position to have a solicitor act for you fully with regard to the case, we can deal with the preparation of the application forms for you and advise you at the outset as to the procedures you will need to follow.
Our Fixed Fee Package for this is £300 plus VAT, being £360.  The fixed fee covers one meeting with you of up to an hour to advise and obtain the information to prepare the application forms, and for the completion of those forms and providing them to you so that you can issue your own application.
The fee does not cover advice and assistance with regard to divorce, financial matters, or domestic abuse.   We are happy to assist in those areas, and can discuss the cost of doing so with you.

8. Help when you need it.

You may feel that you can deal with large parts of your case on your own or with some assistance through the packages we offer.  Some people like the reassurance of a solicitor who deals with everything for them, representing them at court and communicating with their spouse/ partner.  Others have the confidence that they can deal with certain aspects themselves, and would prefer to only take legal advice when they feel they need some assistance on a specific matter.
We can assist on a “Help when you need it” basis. Such advice is charged at an hourly rate basis, and you would be billed for each session.
